Proton Persona

Proton Persona MC2 brings smart updates to one of Malaysia’s favorite B-segment sedans. With changes in design, comfort, and safety, this facelift aims to deliver a more refined drive.

Interior Design

Inside, the Persona MC2 gets a refreshed look. A new 8-inch freestanding infotainment display now sits above sleek horizontal air vents. This unit replaces the old, built-in screen.

Moreover, the Executive and Premium variants offer voice commands for air-conditioning and window controls. The Premium trim steps up further. It features brown leatherette seats inspired by the Proton X70, giving the cabin a more upscale feel.

The center console is also new. It now includes digital air-conditioning controls, an Eco mode button, and a front armrest with storage. Additionally, the car comes with six USB ports—convenient for all passengers.

Exterior Design

On the outside, the Persona now wears Proton’s latest design language. The front grille adopts the “Infinite Weave” style and shows off the new circular logo.

The front bumper is sleeker, enhancing the overall look. In the Premium trim, LED headlamps are standard. They come with auto on/off and follow-me-home functions.

The sedan rolls on 16-inch alloy wheels. Dual-tone ones are exclusive to the Premium variant, while the Executive gets a single-tone version. Other upgrades include a black roof and smoked tail lamps.

Safety & Performance

Under the hood, all variants use the same 1.6L VVT engine. It makes 109 hp and 150 Nm of torque. Proton has dropped the manual transmission, so all models now use a CVT.

In terms of safety, the Persona performs well. All variants come with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), and Hill Hold Assist (HHA).

Furthermore, the body uses Hot Press Formed (HPF) steel for extra strength. The Premium variant adds six airbags, while the Standard and Executive versions come with four. However, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are still missing across the range.

Variants and Comparison

The Persona MC2 comes in three versions: Standard, Executive, and Premium. Each one brings unique features.

  • Standard CVT : This base model includes fabric seats, manual air-conditioning, a basic audio system, and 15-inch alloy wheels.
  • Executive CVT : For a little more, you get LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, reverse camera, and keyless start.
  • Premium CVT : The top variant adds LED headlamps, leatherette seats, six airbags, black roof, and voice commands.

In short, the Proton Persona MC2 improves where it matters. It looks better, feels more premium inside, and retains solid safety features. Though it lacks advanced driving aids, its value and updates still make it a strong choice for daily use.
